STM Love

I LOVE my STM bag for my new 3rd generation iPad! This bag is compact, sturdy and keeps my iPad safe from harm in padded splendor. This sage color is amazing. So bored with black and brown cases that cater to the corporate crowd. This bag is made by a great little Australian company that knows what the heck they are doing when it comes to portable machine storage. They have all different sizes to fit any laptop or tablet. Learn more about them at www.stmbags.com

Dip Pen Set Extraordinaire!

Not at all practical, but when you feel like writing like it's 1869 this lovely glass dip pen will make you feel oh so Nathanial Hawthorne. Use heavy stock cards and stationery and dip often for best results.

Chachkas

Recently got some boudoir bling from One Kings Lane (www.onekingslane.com). After my first order they sent me a lovely embossed thank you card. It was one of the most pleasant buying experiences ever...other than the three-month wait to get my stuff.

Howl-o-ween

So this pic shows my dogs after the howl-o-ween candypalooza...doggie candy that is. You can almost smell their despair. My little snack whores are devastated that there are no more treats to be had...

Sink Hole in Buckhead

So I spied this ever widening hole in the parking lot of my apt complex. I looked inside and there is nothing but a cavernous abyss below. People still insist on parking on top of this thing.

Fun with Photo Effects

Another great reason to have a Droid! This excellent Android Market app called "Camera 360" allowed me to immortalize my dog, Roxie. I think she has the same mysterious look about her as the famous Mona Lisa. Dare I dub her the Mona Roxie? I do believe so.

National Novel Writing Month

National Novel Writing Month is only 8 days away and I still have not outlined my plot or compiled my list of scenes. All I know right now is that someone has to die in a bowl of won ton soup.

Every November writers around the world attempt to get 50,000 words on paper in 30 days. This amounts to about a 150-page novella - at the very least a good start on a novel. For the last five years I have caved in week three to things like writer's block, brain freeze, sleep deprivation, etc. This year, I am taking more time to plan my strategy.

Even though I work full-time and am also a full-time student and pet parent, I'm determined to get down those 50,000 words.

I have decided that I will get up an hour earlier each day, watch less TV and construct my scenes beforehand rather than just coming to the page unprepared with just my imagination. It may surprise you that the imagination cannot be rushed and can be quite stubborn when it wants to be.

Here's hoping that there are enough scenes to write about a murder that takes place in a Buckhead Chinese restaurant. For more information about how to join the madness visit http://www.nanowrimo.org/

Dali at the High Museum

The High Museum is having a Salvidor Dali exhibit through January 2011 and it reminded me of this fabulous photo I took on my trip to England in 2008. This is a Salvidor Dali bronze which is in residence at Chatsworth, a very famous historical house that was featured in the movie The Duchess. Mary Queen of Scots was under house arrest here for many years.

I was just thinking how surprised I was to find a Dali bronze at a country estate in England. I saw a billboard for the Dali exhibit on Piedmont Road and wanted to post this photo. It is quite a disturbing sculpture, but still as surreal as his paintings. I took this picture at an angle because it seemed to fit with the oddness of the moment.

It's not your fault, Vikings!

No wonder the Vikings lost! Look how frickin' COLD it is there in Minnesota? How can anyone concentrate on football when it's that cold outside? How can you hold on to the ball when it's frozen solid like a young, boneless turkey breast? How can you run when the blood in your veins has turned to icy slush? What? Oh, the game was played in New Orleans? Oops. Nevermind.
